We finished our robot stories - Neisen
We've been learning about feelings and our five senses - Kinsley
We have been learning about making good choices - Anna R
We've been learning about a raisin with our 5 senses - Rye
We've been writing about the mouse in room 71 - Callum
We did basketball and volleyball in gym - Neisen
We've done the talent show - Kira
We did a lot of cools moves in gym - Dominik
We've been learning about in gym about Bollywood - Kinsley
We've been writing a story about a pirate - Sophia
We've been learning how to skip count this year - Emerson
We did the count to 20 doing cross-crawls by 2s, 5s, 10s and read to self - Dom
We made Father's Day book and made a present - Liam
We did Bingo with "wh" & "w" words - Bruno
We did Bingo with "sh", "wh", "th" & "ch" words - Sophia
We finished writing our "Colour" poems - Rye
We've been learning about measurement - learning which ones heavier - Kinsley
In math we have been taking different sizes of caps and filling them with water and seeing how many caps we need - Anna R
In gym we are learning how to do Kick Ball - Emerson
We learned about mass - Jack
We've been doing addition and subtraction - Anna W
We did a math test with subtraction - Emerson
We learned about the Tragically Hip & about some kind of signs - Keira & Dominik
We had the Kindies come to ask us about next year - Callum
We did the summer Olympics with running with fake torches - Emerson

The final talent show will be next Friday, June 22nd.  I believe that we have only one performer that day from our class - Dom.  Although individual notices were sent out, my apologies for not putting this information in the blog sooner.

Artist of the Week

For the last days of the school year, we will be reflecting on all of the artists that we have learned about this year. Additionally, we will be touching on a handful of other artists that we did not have time to cover this year, and we will be connecting them to our prior learning.
Thank you for all of your support in the Artist of the Week program this year. I hope everyone has a wonderful summer and finds a way to incorporate our artists into their holiday tunes!

Happy Friday families & friends, The highlight of the week for the students was the dance residency, complete with class recital, on Friday.  Over the course of the week they learned about Bollywood, Latin and Hip Hop dance.  It was great to see how excited all of the students were when they went to gym each day for dance and when they came back as well, after learning some new dance moves.  Well done grade 1s - your dance performance was amazing! Our investigation with measurement continued, with students comparing which "filled" containers hold more water and which ones hold less.  Ask your child what differences they discovered in investigating capacity this week.  Comparing masses was really fun and exciting for the students as well.  They worked in pairs to find things in the classroom that were lighter and heavier than one of their books from their reading tub.  The grade 1s were in awe with seeing and the balance scales to compare and learn about masses.  T he

CLEAN WATER FUNDRAISER

Operation Cranston: Clean Water Students in Ms. Brett, Ms. Jackson, Ms.Patton/Mrs. Vandertoorn’s grade three classes have been inspired through their work in Social Studies this year.  After learning about water scarcity they would like to raise money to help build a well in a country that does not access to safe water.  They have set an ambitious goal of $3000 which would provide clean water for at least 100 people.  Donations will go to Charity:Water.  To raise money they are planning the following fundraisers: Bottle Drive  – a container will be in the school parking lot from June 4-8 and you may drop off bottles during school hours. Yard Sale/Bake Sale/Art Sale/Lemonade Stand  – students will be selling used toys and books, fresh baked goods, lemonade, popcorn, and student-made art from 11:15 – 12:15 on Friday, June 8, on the compound. Water Walk  – students will be carrying jugs of water around the field on Friday, June 8, in the morning, and will be looking for pled
